Congratulations, Dr. Cavaness!!!

Barbara Cavaness, Visiting Professor of Missions and an experienced career missionary, has made a valuable contribution to our program for nine years. We are proud to announce that she has successfully defended her dissertation “Factors Influencing Decrease in the Number of Single Women in Assemblies of God World Missions” for the Ph.D. at Fuller Theological Seminary.

The degree will be formally conferred at graduation exercises this summer, but we may now appropriately address her as Dr. Cavaness. Our sincere congratulations to a most deserving and hard-working colleague!

Spud and Game Night

Have you ever said the wrong word when complementing someone? Like Spud for Stud? If it was a female she probably took her purse and hit you on the head saying that you just called her fat! If it was a male...well, there's no telling there. If you are looking for a night filled with baked potatoes & dessert, cards and games, and where you can call “em spuds” all night long (with no repercussions) then be at the “Spud & Game Night” in the Student Lounge from 6-10 p.m. on March 15. Bring your games and your favorite potato toppings to share. SAC will provide the “spuds”, but remember...only the true studs...I mean spuds will be there!

SAC Nominations and Elections for 2002-2003

SAC nominations for 2002-2003 will take place from February 28-March 15 at the table outside the chapel doors. Take five minutes to VOTE! Vote for your next year's Student Advisory Council servants. Elections for the new SAC officers are from March 25-April 5. Tell us 10, 5, even 2 people who have a heart for students and their families. “I don’t know anybody.” You don’t? Well, you’ve got a perfect opportunity to meet students and learn about their giftings and passions during the next several weeks. Please take a few minutes to nominate and elect next year’s SAC members who will serve AGTS and its students. Your investment of time will definitely bear fruit.

International SAC Lunch: March 21

The whole AGTS community is invited and encouraged to attend the International SAC Lunch (Pot Luck style) on Thursday, March 21 in the Student Lounge from 11:30-1 p.m. We are asking everyone to bring their favorite international dish to share. Please contact Nobu Funatsu (417-268-1066, to let him know what international dish you plan to bring.

Student Lounge

1. We are so happy that many of you have adopted the Student Lounge as your “home away from home!” We would ask that you please remember that everything in the lounge is for students and is kept clean by students. Please be respectful of others by cleaning your dishes, table and counter area. Also, remember that left-over food items in the fridge will be discarded every Friday.

2. We are pleased to introduce some new items in the lounge: more dishes, pots-n-pans, a new microwave, as well as a few storage containers. If you own any tupperware currently located in the cupboards, please remove it to make space for the new items. Also, please make sure to put away your dishes when you are finished with them. We ask you to keep the lounge better than your own kitchen so the entire student population may enjoy it.

3. If anyone has time to help label the kitchen items, please contact Kimberly Fredricks (417-877-1704) ASAP.

Deferred Payment

The next deferred payment for the spring semester is due on March 5.

Student Fees

A recent study shows that approximately 60% of AGTS educational expenses are covered by tuition and fees, the remainder by a grant from the General Council and faithful contributions of our donors. While the seminary makes every effort to hold down the costs of tuition, due to the spiraling costs of graduate education increases in student fees are unavoidable.

The seminary's Board of Directors recently voted to increase tuition by 6%, effective the Fall 2002 term. The new hourly tuition rate for the fall is set at $296 per credit hour and $74 per audit hour.

In previous action, the Board voted to increase the deferred payment fee to $50 and to eliminate interest charges on unpaid balances effective the Fall 2002 term. In addition, all accounts will be charged a $25 late fee for payments not made on time. Students who pay their account balances in full on or before the first day of class, will receive a 1% discount on the net tuition. Net tuition is the full tuition charge less tuition discounts and institutional scholarships.

If you have any questions regarding these changes in billing procedures, please stop by the Business Office.
